TeslaGauger — Support

A magnetometer that remembers where you were standing.

Write to CONTACT@CREABYTE.NET — in English or in French. Please say which iPhone model and which iOS version you are on; for a measurement question, the reading and the uncertainty shown beside it help a great deal.

Privacy policy — the app collects nothing.

Before you write

“It does not react to my power cables.”

It cannot, and this is the app's most important limitation. TeslaGauger measures the static magnetic field — the Earth, magnets, magnetised steel. It does not measure the 50/60 Hz field around mains wiring.

The reason is arithmetic, not the sensor. Readings are taken ten times a second, and 50 and 60 are whole multiples of 10, so an alternating field is sampled at the same point of its cycle every time and folds onto a constant. It would arrive as a fixed number, impossible to tell apart from a real static field. That is why no reading in this app is ever set beside a mains exposure limit: the app cannot see that quantity at all, and an app that pretends otherwise is showing you an artefact.

If mains fields are what you need, you want a dedicated instrument, not a phone.

“My readings vanished when I closed the app.”

That is the free tier, and the app says so on every recording it makes. Without Keep your readings, recordings are discarded when the app next launches. Buying it keeps everything from then on — including the recordings already on screen, which are adopted rather than lost.

“I paid, and it is asking me to pay again.”

Open Explore → Unlock and tap Restore purchases. This happens on a new device, after a reinstall, or when signed in to a different Apple Account than the one that bought it. Purchases are family shareable.

“The room plan option is missing.”

Room plan needs a LiDAR scanner, which only iPhone Pro models have. It is not something a purchase unlocks — it is the hardware. Everything else in the app, including the heat map and the comparison, works without it.

“Another app shows a different number in the same place.”

Very likely, and it does not make either one wrong. A phone magnetometer sits next to the phone's own magnets, so the raw figure carries an offset of several microtesla that has to be estimated and removed. TeslaGauger publishes its measurements with an uncertainty and withholds an absolute value until the offset has settled. An app that shows a bare number to one decimal is not more precise — it is quieter about the same problem.

“The reading stopped moving near a strong magnet.”

The sensor's range ends near 4 900 µT. Past that there is nothing left to report, and a number that has stopped moving is an instrument at its limit, not a stable field. A strong magnet also leaves the phone's own steel magnetised for a while, which is why the calibration figure jumps afterwards and takes time to settle.

Refunds

Purchases are handled by Apple, and only Apple can refund them: reportaproblem.apple.com. If something in the app is the reason, please write as well — it is useful to know.
